Which was the latest pandemic? The bubonic plague, which killed one third of the European population. A misunderstood disease is said to have originated in Ethiopia and spread to North Africa. The Spanish flu, because of the high death rate it caused in Spain. The most recent cholera outbreak, which was caused by eating or drinking contaminated food or water.
