What country controls most of the island of hispaniola?

    Hispaniola is a Caribbean island that is shared between two countries, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Haiti has an area of 27 750 km2 (10 714 sq mi), but the Dominican Republic's area is 48 442 km2 (18 704 sq mi). Therefore, the Dominican Republic controls more area of the island of Hispaniola.
