How was the democracy of athens different from the governments led by pharaohs of Egypt and kings of Mesopotamia

    The major difference was that the inhabitants in Athens lived in a democracy, which means that they had, collectively, decided over their own rule and laws, while the pharaohs of Egypt and kings of Mesopotamia ruled their subjects directly, and had the absolute power over them.
