The Church authorities remain strict to their beliefs and ban the heliocentric theory of Copernicus because it was different from their teaching. Galileo was accused twice of heresy and forced to recant from society. In 1632 he was sentenced for house arrest because his ideas differed from the Church reasoning that God in the Bible cannot relate to false meaning and lie.
