    Some common cultural characteristics:

    They lived in tent-like rooms, made of animal skins and tree branches.

    They lived on agriculture, hunting (mainly American bison) and fishing.

    People were divided into tribes. The tribes had a subdivision that was the clans (families).

    The majority of Native American peoples had religious beliefs, although they were not organized into religions. They believed, mainly, in the existence of a creator of everything, called by them the "Great Spirit". Each tribe had an Indian, generally older, responsible for rituals of healing and transmission of traditions.

    They considered the land and the elements of nature to be sacred.
