The Egyptian goddess Bastet is the cat goddess.
Its shortcut name was Bast. Bast is first and foremost a protectress; specifically of the royal house and the Two Lands. Bast was seen as a protector of cats and those who cared for them. She was very fierce in war and would rip apart enemies with her claws. Bast was also known as Baast, Ubasti, and Baset
