    Correct answer: Repentance.

Repentance is the action of reviewing one's actions. For someone to do this, first, that person should've done something they regret or regret not doing. When going back to those situations, a realization comes with a strong commitment to do better next time or in the future in general.

This practice also takes place in different religions, such as Catholicism, Judaism, Buddhism, and many more.

Even when all of the above are diverse in their dogmas, repentance shares it's core between them: guilt for the acts one has done, admitting the wrongdoings that the person has perpetuated and showing regret and the will to not go the same path again. Lastly, repentance is a symbol of peace within oneself, along with their belief.
