The answer to what Sanjay's position is according to Mintzberg's findings, is that Sanjay is part of the Strategic Apex

    Explanation:

The Strategic Apex is the term Mintzberg coined for the top management. I'll explain this (and Mintzberg's findings on mechanisms of the functioning of an organization) below:

Mintzberg identified 5 key mechanisms that need to be present for a good organization of tasks within an organization (especially when it's a company) and later added a sixth.

These mechanisms are: (Mintzberg 1980, 1997)

Operating Core: All employees that produce the basic services or products of the company, e. g. that do the production work (and not the organisation work such as management) Strategic Apex: The top management and their personal staff (that does not belong to any other category), that are directly involved in governing the organization. The middle line: Management of the employees on the workfloor, forms the shackle between the Strategic Apex and Operating Core. Support staff: Staff that is only indirectly involved in the production and supports the organization indirectly (e. g. cleaners, security, legal advisors) The technostructure: Those who support the organization in analyzing its structure and embedding the organization in its environment (e. g. consultants, accountants, etc.). Ideology: This actor is not a person, but a shared system of values directly influencing the organization. Example, when dedication is part of the hotels ideology, it makes sense that Sanjay is always reachable by phone, even on vacations.

Sanjay, according to the description, is always in the hospital, arranging everything, having meeting after meeting. However the first part is crucial in answering the question, since it states Sanjay is the hospitals top executive. Therefore, according to Mintzberg's findings, Sanjay is part of the Strategic Apex.
