I think the reason for this is very similar to the reason why NAFTA received such opposition.

• The Trans Pacific Partnership (TTP) is set up to eliminate tariffs, taxes, and nontariff barriers.

• Another issue with this agreement being that the deal will exclude China. The United States imports many things from China, and eliminating them through this deal could have a huge impact on the American economy.
