Equality, consists, in that the law is the same for all citizens; it is what punishes and what protects; it neither knows the distinction of birth, nor the inheritance of power. Analyze these two clauses and give your opinion of what they mean, and how they should function in a society. Then, compare them to the corresponding clause in the American Declaration of Independence.

The first clause talks about freedom and the rights that come with it. These rights must not step on the rights of others. The second clause exemplifies the law and how no one is above it. The clause about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is the counterpart in the Declaration.
