As Carlo is already 50 years old, it is likely that his hearing loss is affected due to natural aging as he is already in the middle age stage. His doctor would likely tell him based on the results of his test that he is likely to have the presbycusis, which is a hearing loss, that contributes of him, having to experience this is because of aging. This type of aged related hearing loss, makes a person have difficulty to hear distant sounds and to only hear things that are more high pitched and that is more close to them. It could be seen above as Carlos only hear things that is more close to him than of the distant train.
