In her non-fiction book "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot, the author writes about the life of Henrietta Lacks. Lacks suffered from cervical cancer and this she founded HeLa cell also known as an immortal cell.

Skloot became very much interested in finiding about this cell so she began studying it. In her study, Skloot found that the cells contained G6PD-A also known as glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase-A. It was surprising for her because these cells are not found in Black Americans.
