    Answer: Women were given the right to vote

    Explanation: Previous Japanese Constitution prevented certain rights from citizens especially women, such as the right to vote etc. The new Japanese Constitution was enacted during the year 1947, it restored the rights of the Japanese, it also stripped the Emperor certain powers and also outlawed the use of war as a means to end conflicts in Japan.

    The new Constitution was greatly influenced with many inputs by Douglas MacArthur (an American 5star general) and some of his staff, the new Constitution was applauded by Japanese especially the Women.
