Values provide us with: b. ways to evaluate people, objects, and events as to their relative worth, merit, beauty, or morality

Value is a guideline that we use in our society to determine what is right and what is wrong. It can use to determine whether a person is 'good' or 'bad', but the value that exists between different societies maybe different with one another. So an action that considered as 'bad' in one society may be considered as 'good' in another.
