According to the iom there are three core public health components: #1. Assessment - assess the health needs of the community, investigate the occurrence of health effects and health hazards in the community, and analyze the determinants of these identified health needs. #2. Assurance - manage resources and develop organizational structure. Then implement programs that work with other organizations and agencies to fit community priorities. Evaluate these programs and provide quality assurance through continuous inquiry to determine the efficiency and effectiveness of efforts, while you also inform and educate the public. #3. Policy Development - advocate for public health, build constituencies, and identify resources in the community. Prioritize among health needs, and plan and develop policies to address priority health needs.
