Ask Question

When the leaders of a country are insulated from the problems they are elected to solve, solving those problems is quite difficult. The children of many national leaders attend private schools. What would those leaders know about today's public education? The families of all national leaders are entitled to government-sponsored health care. What would those leaders know about struggling to afford health insurance? Our national leaders make enough money to enjoy the finest new communication technologies. What would they know about arguing with a wireless phone company about a spurious charge? Are our leaders' lifestyles conducive to effective democracy?

    Ironic Statement

    Explanation:

Yeah this is ironic. How can an elected official who is required to be upper upper class to have a chance of winning an election, truly understand the bulk of the country he is elected to represent. Our country is given the 'choice' of selecting an official to represent our views who are all all equally incapable of understanding our views

The text is clearly an ironic statement, that shows us how the social differences work between the leaders of the country and the common citizen of a determined population, this basically doesn't allow them to have a real perspective of the different events or daily issues that can be seen in society and how to deal with them.

It has the intention to show us how difficult it is to have a positive impact on the quality of life of the average citizen when the ¨leaders¨ haven't experienced different common problematics that are presented in society.

When a wealthy or powerful person (a country leader in this case) has never experienced common issues of lower social classes, it will make it considerably difficult the fact to act in a way that will bring effective benefits for the people.
