Three examples that show the foreign policy division in American society and government after the American revolution are:

During Washington's administration Americans didn't know whom to support in the war between England and France after the French revolution.

During Adams's administration, the U. S. didn't know which European country to support.

During the Quasi-War, its administration was divided about his peace plan objective.

    Explanation:

First of all the American society had very large troubles to find its identity and define it. Therefore when different events that involved foreign powers they doubted in which stand the country had to perform. Thus, their history with France and England made them debate between which one to support in their war. Also, when Adams was president they didn't know what European country to support and establish an alliance. Finally, during the Quasi-War, the country was also divided into which was the best for the country because half supported Adams to seek peace, while half said let's have war.
