The pyramids of Egypt and the pyramids found throughout South America share similarities in structural design and in purpose. They were built for the same purpose: the glorification of rulers and deities. Both are four-sided structures constructed of stone that narrow toward the top.

The pyramids in Egypt are a perfect pyramid, which means that the edges are all smooth.

But in America the sides are shaped like stairs.
