Danny, being five years old, has an attention span of one that likes to wander to his thoughts of what is important to him in the now. While he is on the telephone with his grandmother, seeing a bird is important to him and he wants to further investigate it so he hangs up to go outside rather than trying to explain to her what he is seeing.
