Know-Nothing was the first anti-immigration party of United States.

    Explanation:

Know-Nothing party reshaped American politics in the 19th century. It was also known as Amercian Party.

The members of this party were mainly from working class or middle class. Their members strongly resisted the people who immigrated and followers of the Catholic Church. People were afraid of Catholics because these people followed what Pope taught. Catholics were more loyal to Pope in U. S and Know-Nothing thought they would take over U. S.

So, this party prevented Catholics and also the immigrants from being elected in political offices. Since they were working class, they also feared competition in jobs from the immigrants. They used to respond to the questions on their beliefs as "I know nothing" as they wanted to keep party's policies secret. Millard Fillmore was the candidate for President for the American party but they lost and the party was declined.
