Menarche signals the onset of puberty in Dawn but may not necessarily mean that she is at risk of getting pregnant. To get pregnant she also has to ovulate during her menstrual cycle. Clinical data postulates that the initial menstrual cycles after attaining puberty are without ovulation (anovulatory) in the first few years. So, there is no significant risk of Dawn getting pregnant immediately after experiencing menarche.
