    These key elements includes the following

    1. a political system whereby people choose and replace the government through free and fair elections;

    3. protection of the human rights of all citizens;

    4. a rule of law, which is applicable to all citizens of a nation regardless of the social class.

    However, it has been observed that, the only key elements of democracy that distinctly not declining in the world today is a political system whereby people choose and replace the government through free and fair elections;

    While, there is increasing in citizens of the nations to be having less zeal about the participation in politics and civic duties.

    Also, a rule of law seems or appears not to be applicable to the elites in some of the society where democracy is being practiced today.

    Lastly, some top government officials or power that be, in some countries where democracy is being carried out, they appears to trample on the human rights of some of individual.
