Under what condition is a probable cause hearing held to determine if the arresting officer had sufficient evidence to justify an arrest?

    Probable cause hearing takes place when a police officer is convinced that a crime has been committed through information obtained from trusted source or discovery incriminating evidence or admission of guilt. For the police officer to make an arrest or obtain search warrant there needs to be probable cause.
