    Each stage of Erikson's Theory has its own crisis and virtue, so one could in theory not meet the criteria at the end of the stage and complete it later in life. Both Sigmund Freud and Erik Erikson agree that how one experiences the world is determined by the ability to resolve conflict at each stage. Erikson asserted that the development of an individual is impacted through relationships with other humans.
