Two modern versions of the telegraph are email and text, both enabled by cell phones and computers. The telegraph was a device used to send telegrams, or messages using Morse code in the fastest way possible at the time. Now, we have email and text which reach their receivers almost instantly. In the future, we could potentially have a way to contact people via some sort of, perhaps, mind-link. It would be a device that is either worn on the head or implanted in the brain, and it would act like Stephen Hawking's thought-to-speech machine, except it would take your thoughts and transcribe them to the designated receiver.
