It falls short because There was no control group with which to compare his patients who received the treatment.

Which men that in the experiment above, nothing could prove that the improvement is directly caused by the refrigerated fluid.

If there is a control group, researchers could see whether the refrigerated fluid played any relevant role in the improvement.
