    As its name says, the independent variable is the variable that the scientific/researcher will control while the dependant variable is the one who depends on the first one and the one who will be affected when the independent variable is controlled (the dependant variable changes in response to the independent variable). Also, the dependant variable is not directly controlled by the researcher.
