Socrates believed people were not inherently evil but were ignorant of how they ought to live in order to be happy and fulfilled.

He sees people who go out and do bad things commonly happen due to some sort of burdened that they felt in their personal lives but they have no loved ones to turn into, so they choose to create harms towards other as a coping mechanism. To prevent this, he believed all people need physician of the soul.
