    Confucius's ethical code of conduct is characterised by a promotion of vitures called the Five Constants: benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and fidelity.

    Benevolence is the moral practice of concern for happiness of all living beings.

    Righteousness is the sensibility and moral obligation to do good.

    Propriety refers to loyalty and respect between one another.

    Wisdom is the innate knowledge by which one understands right and wrong.

    Fidelity refers to honesty, and that one's deeds matches their words.
