Some city water treatment facilities combine storm water and sanitary sewage systems. During heavy storms, these treatment facilities may be overwhelmed with water, and untreated storm water mixes with sewage and flows directly back into the streams and rivers, where treated water usually returns. What might be the best way to address this problem?

    B. Collect and treat storm sewer and sanitary sewage systems separately

    Explanation:

The best way to address such problem as mentioned above, is to collect and treat both storm sewer and sanitary sewage systems separately.

This is because their methods of treatment will definitely differ due to the concentration of sewage.

The storm sewer is designed to drain and empty excess water from the rain and ground water from impervious surfaces. While the sanitary sewage system is an underground pathway usually made of pipe that is used to transport sewage.

So, such problem can be solved by treating both differently.
