When Carlos started on his school project, two other students worked on it with him. As the semester continued, three more students were assigned to work on the project with the group. Although a total of six students were ultimately responsible for completing the project, Carlos felt that two of them did the majority of the work and "carried the weight" of the group.     Social loafing refers to how we tend to contribute less effort when we are given a task to do in a group. Since there are many people in one project each person feels that the little effort they give counts more when combined with that of others which is not what one will do if they were working alone in their own e project.

    If you work alone you are likely to put all the effort in order to make sure the work is done efficiently and effectively but that is not a case in a group work.

    Everyone within a group assumes that another person is probably doing what they are not doing so there is less accountability.

    Causes

    Psychologists explains some thing that may be responsible for this:

    - lack of motivation, when people are not motivated it is very likely that they won't give their all within the group.

    -Diffusion of responsibility in a group people tend to not take responsibility for the work done becaue they feel like it won't affect the group just because they are not participating since there are many other people in the group.
