Which of the following best describes the American public's reaction to the Seneca Falls Declaration of Sentiments? Most Americans supported the Declaration's proposals and the women's rights movement gained momentum. Surprisingly, most men supported the Declaration, but the majority of American women opposed it. Most people, including women, did not embrace the Declaration's proposals and were opposed to women's rights. Public reaction was in favor of the Declaration, and state legislatures began passing bills granting women more rights.

    The following which best describes the American public's reaction to the Seneca Falls Declaration of Sentiments was that "Most people, including women, did not embrace the Declaration's proposals and were opposed to women's rights." This was because at the time there were still strict conventional ideas around women being in the house, and although many people admired what the declaration stated, even some feminists at the time, believed it would undermine the women's rights movements, because they saw it as too "strong" for its' time.
