Dr. Know-it-All hosts a TV talk show. One of his guests, Joe Collins, complains of his intense annoyance with people who talk on their cell phones while driving. Joe asks Dr. Know-it-All to explain why he reacts so strongly to this type of situation. Dr. Know-it-All immediately exclaims that Joe has an instinct for cell phone irritation. No, an instinct cannot explain complex human behaviors accurately.

    Explanation:

Instinct is a spontaneous reaction manifested within the patterns of animal behavior. The human instinct is very complex, since man is an animal that thinks and lives in an environment and in a culture. For this reason, human instinct cannot accurately explain complex human behaviors, because these behaviors may be influenced by other factors. In Joe's case, the behavior of hating people who drive while talking on their cell phones was influenced by their sense of safety in traffic.
