Enshrined in the Basic Law of Germany, you'll find the respect of human rights. You can find the following in Article 1 of German Basic Law:"Human dignity shall be inviolable. To respect and protect it shall be the duty of all state authority."

In the United Kingdom, they passed a law, back in 1998, that is called "The Human Rights Act."

With such law, you can defend your rights, human rights, in courts of the UK, and also enforces that all public bodies are obliged to respect your rights.
