Ronald, who is 65 years of age, suffered from a stroke a month ago. Now he has difficulty understanding people when they talk to him.     Wernicke's area is area of the brain which is responsible for langauge development. It is found on the left side, temporal lobe of the brain and is vitally responsible for comprehension of speech. Broca focuses on producing the speech

    When the Wernicke's area is damage it is hard for the person to develop speech or to understand speech.

    This result to a disorder know as Wernicke's Aphasia.

    Wernicke's Aphasia

    This occurs when this part of the brain has suffered trauma or has been affected by certain diseases.

    An aphasia makes it hard for the person to comprehend and produce written or spoken speech.
