    c. 400 to 800 words a minute.

    Explanation:

Our brain is unbelievably efficient. Although humans can speak from 120 to 150 words per minute, the brain can process from 400 to 800 words per minute. Apparently this could make listening much easier, but the effect is just the opposite. Since we are able to process a speaker's words and still have a good "mental break" time, we are persuaded to stop listening when we think of something else.
