Local Culture-Now, local culture is a community of people with shared beliefs, experiences, customs, traits and values, and it is defined by a specific region or location. So the local culture is essentially in a specific place, so it's unique to a specific location or a group of people living in a specific location. And members of these communities of local cultures will work to preserve the unique characteristics that defines that local culture. For instance, they could pass down those characteristics, those customs, and those ideas down to younger generations- - to the younger members of that culture.

Subculture-Now subculture is a cultural group that exists within the dominant culture. Now this is different from a local culture because this is not geographically defined. Rather this is defined by specific characteristics and it's not defined to a specific location. It's practiced by a group of people that are different from the majority group. And they could be different in many ways. A few examples include, perhaps they practice different customs than what are practiced in the dominant culture or religion.

Popular Culture or Pop Culture-And this is the accepted cultural patterns practiced by majority of people in a particular group. Now this is different from subculture because pop culture generally doesn't define a way of life, and it can actually change very easily. And this includes components such as art, music, dance, clothing, food, language and opinions. Now it's important also to note that especially in today's world, pop culture is very heavily influenced by mass media as well as the internet. So for example, people tend to wear what they see on TV, or the fashion that they see on TV, as well as people tend to listen to the music that they hear on the radio.
