    The correct answer is option B. Bartolomeu Dias was the first to establish a direct trade network between Portugal and India (the main trade centre at those times). Up to that moment, Europeans could not trade directly with India or Asia without using Middle East route. Since the Otoman Empire had blocked this route, Dias had to find new ones and he did it.
