They can cause mud flow: in fact, in a famous volcano eruption in Chile in 1985 this is what caused the majority of the deaths.

Volcanic eruptions can also cause earthquakes, but very mild ones; the ones we hear about are usually caused by tectonic movement, not volcanic eruptions.
