The land that appeared during the last glaciation, as a result of large amounts of water being frozen and thus the sea levels had fallen down, has been extremely important for the migration of the humans. The land bridges that have opened up, be it between continents or between the mainland and the islands, were used by the humans to migrate and reach and conquer new lands. This has been the case with the land bridge between Asia and North America through which people from Asia managed to migrate to the Americas, the merging of the British islands with Europe that opened the path for people from the European mainland to settle in Britain, as well as the merging of the East Asian islands which allowed people to populate them and also to reach Australia.
