    deterrence

    Explanation:

Deterrence is one of the goals of correction and it involves association of unwanted stimuli - isolation from the society or other punishment - with the bad behaviour of the offenders in order to stop them from engaging in crime. This will in turn make the society a better place to live for them and the rest of the populace.
