    The mother should continue shopping and ignore his child’s tantrums. Operant conditioning works where by the behavior is controlled by consequences. The key thoughts in this learning is positive and negative reinforcement and positive and negative punishment. In this case, simply ignoring the tantrum every time it happens so that this would serve as a reward to stop the tantrum. As well, the mother may be exhilarated her child to give rewards when the tantrums ends.
