    The Inquisition did not intend to use religion as a means of controlling the people, but rather wished the Jewish and Muslim religions out of the domain of their territories and this was the means the Inquisition used to reach them.

    All the punishment was so extreme during the Spanish inquisition because it was a form of maintenance of the power by his king Ferdinand II of Aragon.
