Both revolutions represented a brutal blow to investment and economic activity and delayed for decades the economic development of the country.

The census shows that the Mexican population fell from 15 million in 1900 to 14 million in 1920. This mortality was not the product of revolutionary battles, which were not so many nor so deadly, but a great mortality as a result of hunger and epidemics. These, however, found fertile land in the country precisely because of the Revolution.

To this day half of the Mexican population lives in poverty while 20 percent suffers the most absolute misery, without even having the ability to adequately feed their children. In that sense, the Revolution was a failure.
