    selective abstraction

    Explanation:

Selective abstraction occurs in the Aaron T. Beck's work of cognitive therapy. It is basically a kind of cognitive distortion or cognitive bias where a person generally takes a detail out of any context while all the other details in the context are ignored.

In the context, when Martine got her English paper from the teacher commenting that she needs to improve her usage of metaphors and similes along with an 'A' grade on it, she ignored the 'A' and though that she needs to rewrite the paper completely to make it more good,. Thus she shows the selective abstraction error in her thinking ability.
