    Africa is a continent that is rich in numerous natural resources. That abundance of natural resources attracted the Europeans, and taken in consideration that the Europeans had far superior technology and weapons, the conquest of the African continent was relatively easy.

    Some of the things that caught the eye for the Europeans were the gold, diamonds, numerous types of metals, fertile soil for plantations of cash crops. All those things were highly valued and very profitable, so no wonder that the European colonial powers tried to get hold on as much African territory as possible.
