    Explanation: Self-control is the term used to explains one ability to exert restraint. It is a regulatory process which is solely anchored and maintained by one's self. It is a cognitive process which defines one's ability to regulate one's behavior, attitude, temper, anger or displeasure when faced with unpleasant or tempting circumstances or situations. According to the general theory of crime, Self-control means differences in an individual's ability to avoid crime irrespective of the situation they find themselves. Individual's with low self-control often find it very difficult to stay in charge or regulate their emotions or anger when faced with tempting events which result in unlawful or illegal scenes, hence, translate into crime.
