    Mr Hill's message best portrays gender discrimination or the male child syndrome. This is not uncommon in many parts of the world where the male child is protected, cherished, and given a higher status in the community and the female, otherwise. In some countries, female child infanticide is not uncommon. The idea that only males should be allowed to climb higher status in the society is the basis for gender discrimination.
