A reservation is a piece of land managed by a Native American tribe under the US Bureau of Indian Affairs. Each Indian reservation is associated with a particular Native American tribe. The Indian Removal act was signed into law in 1830. It is a federal government policy that allows for the forcible movement of Native populations into their own areas, away from European areas. The forced removal of the Dakota tribes from their tribal lands led to an armed conflict between the US Army and the Dakota tribes. It ended in the massacre of 38 Dakota men.
