Mononucleosis causes splenomegaly - contact sports can cause the spleen to rupture

    Explanation:

Infectious mononucleosis is often referred to as Kissing disease due to the fact that it can be contracted through saliva, it is associated with headache, fatigue, muscle weakness amongst others as symptoms to look out for.

It is usually caused as a result of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV).

However, it may leads to rupturing of spleen, when carrying out physical activities such as contact sports, heavy lifting of objects amongst others, which may be swollen from the infection.
